God Planted a Seed
My name is Courtney (Allen) Weaver and I am the founder and director of Accounting Beyond Borders. In August 2013, the Lord planted a seed on my heart that has grown steadily over the years through God’s grace.
In 2013, I traveled to Panama on an AROMA (A Revolution of Missional Athletes) sport’s ministry trip through Messiah College. On that trip, I was introduced to a ministry called Rio Missions led by Dan and Jess Cotton. In a conversation one evening, I learned that one of the biggest needs of their ministry at the time was someone to perform the business and accounting services needed to run their organization. They had to spend a lot of time performing accounting and administrative tasks for their ministry rather than pouring into the heart of their communities and it was a huge burden for them.
Everything clicked. The seed was planted. This is what I am called to do and others are too.
I returned to Panama the next summer and began serving their accounting needs. Throughout my time working with Rio Missions, the Lord revealed to me in waves how to structure an organization that serves missionaries well and what my role should be as his faithful servant. He has also revealed that this need I experienced with Rio Missions exists in ministries all over the world.
Now, nearly 8 years later, Accounting Beyond Borders continues to operate as a 501(c)3 nonprofit serving ministries in Panama, Haiti, Liberia, Zimbabwe, Nicaragua, Spain, Kenya, Chile, Jamaica, Guatemala, the United States and expanding. I am thankful every day for the opportunity to use the gifts the Lord has blessed me with to serve him unconditionally and I look forward to continuing to strive as a team to help other ministries grow and more fruitfully serve God's kingdom.
